A study visit with workshops within the “Eastern European University” project

From 10 to 16 May Lublin welcomed representatives of universities in Vilnius and Ruzomberok, Slovakia. A study visit to Lublin, including workshops

The first of three study visits will take place on 11-15 May 2015 in Lublin. It will see the participation of representatives of all project partners from Lublin, Vilnius and Ružomberok.

The participants in the meeting will discuss the following issues

  • How to facilitate cooperation between the city and universities?
  • How to systematise cooperation between the city, business and universities?
  • How to encourage more young people from Eastern Partnership countries to study in Lublin?
  • How to encourage talented individuals to stay in Lublin?
  • How to improve the quality of education for international students?
  • How to solve the problems of international students studying in Lublin?
  • How to combat negative opinions on international students?
  • What is the role of non-governmental organisations in supporting international students?

Answers to these questions can be found in a report summarising the study visit, which also includes good practices for partners from Lithuania and Slovakia, as well as ideas on how to cope with problems which will arise during the study visit.

International project meeting

On 20 March 2015 the first project partner meeting was held in Lublin. It was attended by representatives of the Lublin Municipality, of all the Lublin-based universities involved in the project and of a partner university in Vilnius.

The objective of this meeting was to enable the partners to get to know one another. Thanks to a presentation including all institutions present at the meeting, the partners could acquaint themselves with the operation profiles, and the specificity and potential of all partner institutions.

Furthermore, project activities, their goals, principles, schedules and implementation progress were discussed. This was with the focus on the organisation of the first study visit with workshops, which will take place in May 2015 in Lublin.

The meeting also constituted an opportunity to present Lublin to the partners from Vilnius.

Surveying the motivations of potential international students

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University is conducting interviews on the educational plans of young people in Eastern Partnership countries. This survey is aimed at last-grade high-school students, as well as at university students in their initial years of studies. We would like to encourage young people in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to fill in the electronic questionnaire. This will take only 10 minutes!
